How does the deposit work with individual leases?

For example, for a total rent of €1,500 shared equally among 3 tenants, each pays a deposit of €500 (unfurnished) or €1,000 (furnished). The advantage is that one tenant's departure doesn't affect the others.

What is joint liability in a single lease?

In a joint lease with a solidarity clause, each tenant is responsible for the entire rent and security deposit. If one tenant doesn't pay, the landlord can pursue the others. Solidarity ends 6 months after a tenant's effective departure, provided a replacement is listed on the lease. The ALUR law limited this solidarity over time.
